Joseph Michaels was born in1947 in Northern Greece. Years later the whole family moved to the Czech Republic (formerly Czechoslovakia)
and settled in Brno where he eventually finished Art School (SUPS).

In 1970 he moved to Greece, where he spent 4 years.
There he met his wife, who
he married in 1974. Later on that year, they both left
Greece for Canada. Their
stay in Canada did not last
long and they found
themselves in the U.S. (Chicago, IL), where they
live and work today.

Joseph still paints in between working as a printer and graphics artist in his own
print business, which he operates with his wife.
